WHO WE ARE
Who We Are
Antioch Fort Worth is a non-denominational church located in Fort Worth, Texas. Our mission is to be the church Jesus always intended for his followers to be. We want a return to the radical love of Jesus lived out in a community, for our city, our nation, and the nations of the earth.
Our passion and purpose has always been and will always be Jesus. Knowing Him, following Him, and being like Him.
We believe that the church is God’s “Plan A” for the world. This means that at our core, we are a local church that, along with the Antioch International Movement of Churches, have the vision for a global impact.
The church doesn’t just happen on Sundays. In the Bible, the first church was commissioned to live in a community, to worship, to share meals, to worship God together and to reach out to others. We live out this mission daily here in Fort Worth: in coffee shops and church pews, on soccer fields, and street corners.
We believe everyone has a meaningful part to play in the Kingdom of God; we are called to proclaim and demonstrate the Gospel to the world. As we respond to needs, from one end of the earth to the other, we plant churches and impact communities with God’s love so we might see His Kingdom come and His will be done.
- WE WILL EMPOWER EACH PERSON IN THE CHURCH TO LIVE A KINGDOM LIFESTYLE. We follow Jesus by encountering and obeying Him in our daily lives.
- WE WILL BE PART OF TRANSFORMING FORT WORTH, TEXAS. We will serve and reach out, both through specific church ministries and in our day-to-day lives.
- WE WILL SEEK TO MAKE THE CHURCH A VOICE OF LOVE AND TRUTH IN THE UNITED STATES. We will continue to plant churches and raise up church partners throughout the country.
- WE WILL PARTNER WITH GOD TO SEE THE CHURCH CHANGE THE WORLD. We will continue to send short-term and long-term teams throughout the earth to reach as many people as we can with the love of God.
The History Of Antioch Fort Worth
Antioch Fort Worth (then called Christ Fellowship) began in 1993 with 13 adults and 14 children. We met from house to house with a simple desire to be the church of Jesus Christ in simplicity and power. We got so excited when we would open the Bible to the book of Acts and say, “Why can’t we see church life like we read about here in the Bible?” We still get excited about the simple dream of truly being the church.
Over the next few years we were blessed by God and saw many people give their lives to Jesus. We were on a journey together. We did not have things figured out, but we found a deep love for God, for God’s people, and for God’s purposes on the earth. We were learning together, and we still are. We learned to treasure Jesus, to be whole-hearted worshippers, to share the gospel, to be in community, to participate in the mission of God, to pray, to study the Bible, to demonstrate the Kingdom of God, to see others healed, and to partner with God in setting things right in a broken world.
One of the key marks of our history has been enjoying, pursuing, and earnestly seeking life in Christ. Knowing Jesus and his life leads to to more and more life. Individual disciples want to share his life with others, LifeGroups multiply again and again, and even the church itself multiples. As a result of this basic vision, a key part of our history has been church planting. Down through the years, the church multiplied many different times by starting new churches in different parts of the DFW metroplex, the US, and other parts of the world.
In 2002, a new season began as we moved the church from Grapevine, TX to Fort Worth, TX. Some of the reasons for moving included a desire for greater ethnic and economic diversity, access to Texas Christian University, headquarters for our church planting movement, and a strong sense of God’s call and leading to Fort Worth. We challenged our members to be “missionaries to America” and said, “You may never move overseas as a missionary, but would you consider keeping your same job and moving to Fort Worth as a missionary?” During the next few years many accepted that challenge, and we all sensed God’s pleasure in our steps of faith.
In 2008, after years of serving and partnering with the Antioch Movement in different ways, the leaders of Christ Fellowship understood that the Lord was calling them to recognize their “tribe” within the body of Christ and formally connect with the Antioch International Movement of Churches based in Waco, Texas. The Antioch Movement is like a family. We share resources, life, and love in order to see a wave of churches planted around the world.
In 2011, after many years of renting office space and various Sunday morning venues, Christ Fellowship had the opportunity to purchase the shopping center where the church currently meets. At the time of the purchase, we anticipated that there would be several build-out phases as the church grew and the Lord led. We are excited to develop a base from which we hope to impact our community with the love of Jesus and grow and multiply in order to bring the love of Christ to our nation and the nations!
In 2018, Christ Fellowship officially changed its name to Antioch Fort Worth in order to reflect our identity and calling to Fort Worth, to the nation, and to the nations of the earth. When we look back, we are grateful for all that God has done and for the many lives that have been changed and impacted by His grace. Today, as we look forward, we are more excited than ever because we know that God is still wanting to use us and that our best days, our best stories, and our best testimonies are in the future as we trust our great God.
